What does a Core Care provider search project include?

  • 1:1 Consultation
    • Each project begins with a 1:1 phone or video consultation with an experienced Care Consultant. Your Care Consultant will discuss available care options included in your benefit package and make recommendations based on the current caregiving market. They’ll ask questions to learn more about your family’s care needs and walk you through the next steps of the process.
  • Personalized Job Posting
    • We’ll create a customized job and post on relevant, professional job board(s) and/or care networks. Our Care team will review resumes and reach out to candidates who meet your qualifications.
  • Qualifying Interview
    • Your Care Consultant will interview candidates as they respond to your position. If the candidate is a potential fit, we will share the candidate’s resume, interview notes, pay rate and anything important to know while considering options. We’ll also update you about the status of your project by the end of each week via email.
  • Interview Scheduling
    • Your Care Consultant will assist with scheduling your interview with candidates and provide recommended interview questions. Your Care Consultant will not join the interview – we’ll get your thoughts and help you choose a care provider. Families are provided with up to 3 candidates to consider. Your Consultant will help negotiate pay and go over benefits with your candidate.
  • Additional Coordination
    • Your Care Consultant will coordinate a care provider trial with your preferred candidate. We will also initiate your candidate’s Criminal Background Check, social media screen, reference checks, and CPR validation. You’ll be notified of results as your consultant receives them.
  • Support Hiring a Caregiver
    • Once you’re ready to move forward with a candidate, your Care Consultant will help finalize the arrangement with your new care provider. We’ll provide your family with a Sample Care Agreement and make recommendations based on your family’s needs. We’ll also make recommendations for a payroll service and assist with any outstanding details.

What does a Care Provider do?

  • Childcare providers offer in-home support services to ensure the wellbeing and safety of your child(ren). Providers assist with diapering/potty training, preparing meals for the child(ren), light tidying, nap time, etc. They can also help create routines and aid in the development of the child(ren) through age appropriate play, exposure, activities, and playdates.
  • Adult care providers support aging adults or those with exceptionalities who need assistance or supervision. Providers can help with general care, surgery recovery and respite care. Adult care providers assist with driving to and from appointments, running errands, preparing meals, administering medicine, providing social and emotional support and ensuring the safety of your loved one.

What is backup/occasional care?

  • Backup care covers gaps in your primary childcare or adult care arrangements. Including when:
    • School is temporarily closed
    • Your go-to care provider or nanny isn’t available
    • You work from home, overnight or unpredictable shift

Due to tax and legal limitations, backup care does not include full time caregivers or nannies. Learn more about your benefits and tax limitations here.

Can I use my Core Care benefit to thoroughly vet a provider I have found on my own?

  • Through Provider Assist, a Core Care project option, our consultants will work alongside your family in vetting a care provider you've already found.
  • What is the vetting process and what does it include?
    • Your family will provide your provider’s full name, email address and phone number.
    • Your care provider will receive a link to submit their information for a criminal background check, Motor Vehicle check (if applicable) and social media review.
    • We check up to 2 references for the provider
  • How many care providers can Helpr vet for you?
    • Consistent care (full or part time) - we screen 1 care provider
    • Backup/occasional care - we screen up to 2 care providers
  • How long does the vetting process take?
    • Background checks typically take 2-14 business days to complete. Your Core Care consultant will send all clearances and reports to you as soon as they are completed.

What information do I need for my 1:1 consultation?

  • In order to provide your consultant with the information they will need to find the best care options for your family, please be ready to share the following:
    • Who needs care?
    • When is care needed?
      • When do you need care by (start date)?
      • How long do you need care (end date)?
      • For consistent care, what days and times do you need care each week?
      • For backup care, are there typical days and time frames when you need care the most?
    • What will the care provider’s responsibilities look like?
    • What rate would you like to offer your new care provider? Your consultant will be happy to share current market rates in your area to set you up for a successful project.
    • Are there any special needs or requests you would like your new care provider to have experience with in order to best serve your family’s needs?
    • Anything else you would like your consultant to keep in mind while finding your family’s new care provider.

Where does Helpr source candidates?

  • We primarily advertise on professional hiring platforms due to the fact that we are hoping to recruit experienced individuals who have professional resumes and a desire to build a career as a care provider. Additionally, we are looking for candidates willing to complete a thorough process (multiple interviews, identity verification, a background check, providing references, sharing a CPR certificate) and we've found candidates sourced using professional platforms tend to be more willing to do so.
